"Invisible City" is something else – a true collaboration with an old friend and genuine collaborator of the arts, Archie Rand. […]
In some ways, Archie's phantasmagorias were in direct opposition to my idealistic poetry; in other ways, the poetry became A Modest Proposal to the ironic brush of the painter. But what am I doing, giving hints to meaning – I'm a poet! Archie insisted that I do my own calligraphy; first time I ever picked up a brush. The result is the 50-piece series on display at Freight + Volume. A Poetry/Painting combine. A visual score for performance. Something indescribable, labeled with poetry. "Invisible City."
